EDITORIAL SPECIALIST

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Editorial Specialist formats and copy edits BSF materials for print and digital use. This person assists the Editorial Lead and Curriculum Team with any necessary tasks in developing, editing, and delivering curriculum products to the field.

ESSENTIAL TO THE POSITION:

Has received Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior and is in full agreement with Bible Study Fellowship’s Statement of Faith. Excellent attention to detail; strong copy editing skills and familiarity with grammar usage for Christian writers/publishers; strong InDesign skills; ability to manage shifting workload and multiple deadlines; ability to collaborate and communicate clearly with a variety of departments at BSF Headquarters.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Formats BSF study materials from Word to InDesign
Copy edits BSF study materials
Copy edits BSF materials outside the Curriculum Department, as needed
Assists on editorial assignments made by the Editorial Lead
Collaborates/assists on special projects in the Curriculum Department

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum of three years’ experience as a copy editor in print or digital journalism with experience working in Adobe InDesign
Full agreement with BSF’s Statement of Faith; firm understanding and desire to advance BSF culture, mission, vision, aims, core values, and strategic initiatives
Strong familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style, Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, global English, and current grammar guidelines. Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
